Can't take the experiments out of the science teacher...

It was full on experiment time in the Swindell household last night.  Spencer has a throat infection and awful sinus drainage.  Let me preface this story by saying he is a CHAMP at taking medicine and always has been.  Well, meet Mr. Steroid which tastes like lighter fluid (no, I haven't tasted it before, but I can only imagine).  We gave it to him the first time and he threw it all up along with his breakfast and lunch.  Then he needed the antibiotic (which tastes not too bad), but he won't touch it because he's fearful that it's the steroid again.  What to do now??  We have a very unhappy child (I can totally see why) and no medicine down the pipe!

After a conversation with the nurse, she said mix the dosage in equal parts of food that he likes.  Wow!  What a great idea.  I couldn't wait to get home to get to my concoctions.  This is what our kitchen counter looked like last night:

We tried the meds in all this and you could STILL taste it like there was nothing added to it!!!  So, what do we do now?  Hold him down with all that parental force and make him take it.  Poor baby!!  But, he is feeling better!!

Hope everyone is doing great!!

Nothing better than a brother!

Spencer loves his brother Zach like nothing else.  Since Zach is in nursing school and works full time, Spencer doesn't get to see him much other than on the weekends.  But when he does, watch out!  Mom and Dad are chopped liver when Zach's around (which is perfectly fine!) and it's so much fun watching those two together.  Here's some pictures from this afternoon/evening:

And the fun begins...

The greatest love, octagons & butterflies...

Let me start off by saying Rick is greatest husband in the ENTIRE world.  I say this to myself every single day.  He's the king of "small things" and boy do those things mean the most to me.  This is just a sprinkling of the "small things" of lately...

My lips were so chapped last week I was literally chewing on them.  I LOVE the Blistex Infusion (greatest stuff for your lips on the planet!) and I couldn't find it anywhere I went.
I'm sitting in my room and in walks our attendance clerk with a bag from United and she said, "Your husband just dropped this off."  You got that right...he took time off to go get and bring me my Blistex.  He works clear on the other side of town too.

So, today I leave my purse at home.  Yes I know, how do you do that?  You'd be surprised at the junk I do.  Rick takes off and brings me my purse (remember, across town).  I meet him outside and along with my purse he has picked up my favorite coffee from Day Break (sugar free hazlenut latte) and my favorite oatmeal raisin cookie from there.

Really???  Do I deserve all this??  Whether I do or not, it makes my life just that much better when I don't think it could even get better.  Rick, I love you so much and thank you for what you are to me and what you do for me every single minute of the day.

And, here's your quiz for the day: What do these pictures have in common??

Well, they are two words that Spencer can say PERFECTLY and I mean perfect.  I picked him up yesterday and he had a picture they had made with butterflies and he started spouting off "butterfly" over and over.  Then his teacher tells me that when they do flash cards in the mornings, he can spot an octagon a mile away and yes, he says that perfectly as well.  Whoa!  That was a proud mama and daddy moment yesterday!

Easter joy

Easter was so much fun. All three of us were beyond exhausted at the end of the day. We spent Easter at Dad and Dana's house and had more fun! It was extra special because Mother (my great-grandmother) was there. Spencer was an expert egg hunter which made dad proud! When Rick was young, he and his sister Terry would go Easter egg hunting and poor Terry would end up with barely any eggs because Rick scooped them all up. Well, as you can see here, the apple didn't fall far from the tree.  (Thank you 750 mph wind for the great sound effects!)

What?? There's candy in here?!?!

Spencer enjoyed PaPaw taking him to see the cows until the 1,000 pound bull decided to walk up. Spencer has never eaten that much candy in his life. He was going nuts! Pez are definetly his favorite.

Would you like some PaPaw?

One of my favorite Easter memories as a kid was going to Grandpa and Grandma Brandt's house to hunt eggs and Grandma would use the plastic eggs that her panty hose came in and would put money in it. Man, we thought we were rich when we opened it up and saw nickles, dimes and maybe even a quarter! Every now and then, a dollar bill would pop up and I swear I had just won the lottery! Great memories I'm so glad I have.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
